  With all the talk about ESG, it is strange to me that the government-inspected nonprofit I lead, The Board Director Training Institute of Japan, has so many foreign institutional investors that support us with donations, but not one of them is a well-known Japanese institution. It seems to me that one of the most basic principles of the ESG-oriented management that many asset managers call for these days, applies to them as well: seek to improve the market (the commons) from which you draw profits.
