All Nippon Airways (ANA) has launched scheduled freighter flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Frankfurt from today. This will be the first time a scheduled freighter flight will operate to Europe by ANA. These flights will run twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays and the route will be operated by a Boeing 777F aircraft, which has a 100 tonne cargo capacity.

The airline introduced Frankfurt as a charter flight route to its international freighter network in June 2020 with one flight a week. Following the strong demand from both Japan and Germany, the flight operation increased to twice a week in September 2020 and today it became a scheduled flight until end of March 2021.

ANA expects to operate 1899 freighter and cargo-only flights during the month of November, a monthly record high of cargo flights for ANA.

“The launch of our scheduled freighter flights to Europe have been in the making since we first introduced the Boeing 777F into our fleet in 2019. We are very pleased to be operating the flight throughout our winter schedule. We are working hard to meet our customers' demands while safely transporting goods through this tough COVID-19 period. This freighter service to Europe illustrares our commitment to provide smooth distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in the near future” said Sadami Sugimoto, vice president, cargo marketing and services, EMEA.

In Germany, ANA is represented by ATC Aviation Services AG Cargo General Sales Agent and the cargo handler is their joint venture partner Lufthansa Cargo AG. Additionally, ANA currently operates cargo flights in Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Brussels using passenger aircraft.
